Darley’s record-breaking 10 3-pointers lift UMBC in win

Will Darley (Dulaney) made a schoolreco­rd 10 3-pointers and scored a careerhigh 38 points as host UMBC won, 108-102, over UMass Lowell (11-19, 5-10) in men’s basketball Saturday.

The Retrievers (17-10, 8-6 America East) ended a season-worst three-game slide with the victory.

The 38 points are the third most scored by a Retriever in 49 seasons of basketball at UMBC.

MOUNT ST. MARY’S 79, FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON 74: Elijah Long (John Carroll) scored a career-high 29 points, including a late go-ahead layup, to lift the Mount (15-14, 13-3 Northeast Conference) over the host Knights (11-16, 9-7).

Mount St. Mary's stayed in sole possession of first place in the conference.

Mike Holloway's layup capped a 10-0 run and the Knights led 44-34 early in the second half.

N.C. CENTRAL 83, UMES 69: Rashaun Madison scored 18 to lead the visiting Eagles (19-6, 10-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) to their 10th win in a row.

Dontae Caldwell led the Hawks (9-18, 6-6) with 19 points.

MORGAN STATE 83, SAVANNAH STATE 75: Tiwian Kendley scored 25 points and the host Bears (11-14, 8-4 MEAC) ended a three-game slide, edging the Tigers (10-15, 7-5).

Tyler Streeter added a season-high 12 points, Martez Cameron had 11 and Antonio Gillespie 10.

SOUTH CAROLINA STATE 84, COPPIN STATE 79: DeJuan Clayton had 26 points and Terry Harris (Kenwood) had 23 points, but the Eagles (7-21, 6-7 MidEastern Athletic Conference) fell to the host Bulldogs (9-18, 6-8).

TOWSON 75, JAMES MADISON 65: Mike Morsell had 19 points to lead the host Tigers (19-10, 11-5 Colonial Athletic Associatio­n) past the Dukes (8-21, 6-10).
