Price, Patterson too tough in region final

Sophomore’s 28 points power Clippers past Randallsto­wn, 73-50

At halftime of Saturday’s Class 2A North Region boys basketball title game, a Patterson fan asked the scorers table how many points sophomore star Marvin Price already had against visiting Randallsto­wn.

The answer (23) was more than all the Rams had at that point and ultimately told the story of the game.

Price finished with 28, including 19 in the pivotal second quarter when the No. 2 Clippers took hold of a 73-50 win and the program’s fifth region title since 2011.

Patterson improved to 24-3 and will take on Harford Tech — which beat Parkside in the East final, 59-57 — in the state semifinals set to start Thursday in at College Park.

Isaiah Clemons added 14 points, Gerard Mungo and Christion Adams each scored 11, and Daesean Jones had five points, seven assists and four rebounds.

NO. 1 PERRY HALL 82, PAINT BRANCH 71: Anthony Higgs had 23 points and 18 rebounds to lead the host Gators (24-2) past the Panthers in the Class 4A North.

Perry Hall advances to face Annapolis in Thursday’s state semifinal. Paint Branch’s coach was ejected in the second quarter.

NO. 4 POLY 68, DUNDALK 36: Demetrius Mims scored 22 points to lead the visiting Engineers (19-7) in the Class 3A North final.

DECATUR 65, WILDE LAKE 55: The host Seahawks (25-1) went on a 9-0 run in the third quarter to beat the Wildcats (17-9) in the Class 3A East.

HARFORD TECH 59, PARKSIDE 57: The host Cobras (19-5) won their first region title in the Class 2A East.

Dominic Webb scored Harford Tech’s last six points, including two free throws with 4.5 seconds left to seal the win. NO. 14 CENTURY 64, WILLIAMSPO­RT 48: Zach Tucker scored 20 points as the host Knights (22-2) earned their 20th straight win by beating the Wildcats in the Class 2A West.

FAIRMONT HEIGHTS 81, HAVRE DE GRACE 77, OT: The host Warriors ended their season 16-6 in the Class 1A North.

EDMONDSON 67, NEW ERA 57: The host Red Storm (15-5) beat the Dragons (12-12) in the Class 1A South.
