Panoramic views of the Chesapeake Bay from a modern interior with rustic touches characterize a waterfront house in Shady Side that is on the market for $699,900.

“The first floor has a 270 degree view of the water. Wherever you’re looking, you are looking at water,” said Tim McIntyre, the listing agent with Monument Sotheby’s International Realty.

Inside, he said, it has “so much attention to detail.” The house, he said, has a “very modern, refined look, but it also manages to feel casual and comfortable.”

The four-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom house is in Columbia Beach, a private community on the Bay some 18 miles south of Annapolis. It counts a community boat launch and playground among amenities for its residents. “It’s a quiet community,” McIntyre said. The home’s main level, with 9-foot ceilings, has a kitchen with white cabinetry, marble counters and a backsplash of white subway tiles. Setting that off are wood shelves and an island topped with dark granite in a leather finish.

Overhead, the ceiling is done in rustic brick and distressed wood beams. Appliances and conveniences include a double-oven range, wine cooler and stove-side pot filler.

Natural light drenches the living space, including the dining area, which features a floating gas fireplace. A great room’s sliding French doors open onto a porch. And the sunroom brings in more light. All offer expansive views of the bay.

Upstairs, three bedrooms share a full bathroom, which opens from the hallway with pocket doors. The bathroom features a separate tub and shower, as well as two sinks. That level also has a porch.

Another flight up is the large master suite. Ample closet space that stretches across one wall is accessible by two sets of barn-style doors. The master bath includes a separate steam shower and tub, two vanities and a heated floor.

The bedroom has its own deck, which is roughed in for a hot tub.

The home also features tankless hot water and has a whole-house generator.

Beneath the three levels of living space are a ground-level garage and a storage area.

Long established, Columbia Beach has grown into a community of about 200 single-family houses. Schools are a short drive away, as are stores and restaurants. Franklin Point State Park, a natural area, is close by.

“There’s plenty of marinas within a few miles’ radius,” McIntyre said.
