Trump proven right about immigrants

I opened The Baltimore Sun on Wednesday and was surprised that the Manchester massacre did not make the front page (“Brits say they will no longer share Manchester information after alleged leaks,” May 25). Grabbing a headline was former Central Intelligence Agency Director John Brennan’s concerns about Russian collusion in the 2016 election (“Hands off U.S. election, ex-CIA director says he warned Russia,” May 24). You placed a massacre story on page 5, because the details of the story reveal that President Donald Trump’s anti-terrorism program can effectively defeat these barbaric religious fanatics. The Manchester killer, Salman Abedi, is the son of a Libyan immigrant who fled Tripoli in 1993 and found political asylum in England. Mr. Abedi’s father, Ramadan Abedi, had returned to Libya and belongs to the Salafi Jihadi movement. This movement is an extreme sect of Salafism from which al Qaida and ISIS hail.

The Manchester killer spent three weeks in Libya prior to returning to England and killing 22 innocent young people. One of President Trump’s first actions to defeat terrorism was to halt immigration from Libya until we could effectively vet Libyans who want to come to the U.S. You condemned Mr. Trump for being an Islamaphobe and anti-immigrant. If England had adopted President Trump’s recommendations and better monitored travelers from Libya, Ariana Grande’s songs might still be playing today in the minds and hearts of young Britons.
