Science Center’s ‘Solstice’ gala

-

Ashley Fisher’s ensemble at the Maryland Science Center’s “Solstice” gala reflected the fiery theme — and the fun — of the party. The party also gave the 32-year-old a chance to indulge her love of fashion in a way she doesn’t get to do in her job as a Washington, D.C., government web editor on dc.gov. “I try to have fun with fashion at work, wearing bright colors and fun stuff. But it doesn’t take much to stand out when you work in IT,” she said with a laugh, referring to the general T-shirt and jeans “uniform” of that world. Her fashion priorities often have to take a backseat to comfort when it comes to another passion — that for music — which she shares with a group of friends. “We have a shared Google calendar where we put the shows down. It’s very serious business. … At least three times a month [we’re] at the 9:30 Club, [which] is standing room only. [So] I always wear sneakers. I have a pair of Vans that I wear all the time with everything,” she said. However, this time another passion inspired Fisher to put “Solstice” on the shared calendar, getting the whole group to ramp it up fashion-wise and make the trek from D.C. to Baltimore for the shindig she’d been attending for several years. HER ENSEMBLE: Mustard satin oneshoulder faux wrap dress and multicolor beaded and sequined black evening bag from asos.com. Red enameled metal earrings from Mango. H&M red strappy heels.
