Allison Ehrich Bernstein, 30, was born in Philadelph­ia and raised in Norfolk, Va. Allison works as principal at Allative Communicat­ions in Cambridge, Mass. Her parents, Lisa Ehrich and Dr. Robert C. Bernstein, live in Norfolk.

Andrew Garin, 29, was born and raised in Washington, D.C. Andy studies labor and public economics as a doctoral candidate at Harvard. His parents, Deborah E. Berkowitz and Geoffrey D. Garin, live in Bethesda.

The two met as high school seniors in 2005 while waiting for a flight to an event for prospectiv­e Brown University students. The two were at BWI Marshall Airport.

“It was the only place close to Norfolk that offered a direct flight,” Allison said.

There were four prospectiv­e students on the flight that day, according to Allison. “He was the only cute one,” she said.

Upon landing, Allison asked her aunt and uncle if they could give Andy a ride to campus with her. They agreed.

The two met up again in the fall. By Valentine’s Day, they were an official couple. They have been together since. They live in Cambridge.

There wasn't a proposal for this couple. The two started talking about getting married New Year’s Eve in 2015. They broke the news to their parents that spring.

Two hundred fourteen guests attended the wedding and reception at the American Visionary Art Museum.

Amy Epstein McManus from Crimson & Clover provided the flowers. The colors of the wedding were bold jewel tones.

Allison wore a pale pink dress by Amy Kuschel from Flair Bridal in Boston. Bridesmaid­s wore dresses of their choice.

Andy wore a charcoal Isaia suit with an “Obama blue” tie from Saks Fifth Avenue in Chevy Chase. The groomsmen wore charcoal suits of their choice and the same tie Andy wore.

Bachelor Boys Band provided the music. The couple’s first dance was to MORE WEDDING INFO "And I Love Her" by The Beatles.

Chef's Expression­s catered the dinner. The menu consisted of a choice of Vegetable Napoleon or a beef filet with Old Bay rub. Dessert consisted of cupcakes from Baked & Wired in Washington, D.C.

The couple honeymoone­d in the Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michaels.
