Johns Hopkins wins 40th straight game in Centennial Conference

Visiting Johns Hopkins got off to a fast start as Zack Baker completed an 80-yard touchdown pass to Luke McFadden on the opening play and the Blue Jays football team rolled to a 41-10 victory over Dickinson Saturday.

Johns Hopkins improved to 4-0, 3-0 Centennial Conference and the Red Devils fell t0 1-3, 1-2.

The win is the 45th straight in the regular season and 40th straight in Centennial Conference play. The Blue Jays also set a school record with their 12th consecutiv­e win on the road. Hopkins had previously won 11 in a row on the road from 2010-12.

The 80-yard play – the longest in either Baker or McFadden’s career – was the first of three first-half touchdowns that covered more than 50 yards for the Blue Jays, who also got a 56-yard punt return for a score by David Brookhart (Glenelg) before the end of the first quarter and a 62-yard touchdown run from freshman quarterbac­k Nick Leongas midway through the second to jump to a 21-3 lead just 21 minutes into the game.

STONY BROOK 25, TOWSON 17: Joe Carbone threw two touchdown passes, Alex Lucansky kicked four field goals to lead Stony Brook over Towson (2-2, 0-1 Colonial Athletic Associatio­n). Carbone threw a 24yard score to Ray Bolden and connected with Harrison Jackson on a 1-yard TD pass as Stony Brook (3-1, 2-0) built a 16-10 halftime lead.

BOWIE STATE 76, SHAW 7: The host Bulldogs (4-0, 1-0 Central Intercolli­giate Athletic Associatio­n) took a 35-0 lead in the first quarter over the Bears (1-3, 0-1).

Leading Bowie State’s offense was junior Amir Hall with 420 passing yards, completing 22-of-32 passes and tied his own school record of six passing touchdowns. The Bulldogs running back duo of redshirt senior Robert Chesson (Old Mill) and junior Maurice Williams (St. Frances) rushed for 101 yards each.

MCDANIEL 27, GETTYSBURG 20, OT: The host Green Terror (3-1, 2-1 Centennial Conference) thwarted a come-back-attempt by the Bullets (0-4, 0-3).

Gettysburg scored twice over the final 6:46 of regulation to force overtime. But, McDaniel’s Andre Henry Jr. caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Will Koester and Spencer Wiersberg made the point after attempt.

SALISBURY 27, COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY 7: Brandon Lewis (John Carroll) had two rushing touchdowns to lead the visiting Sea Gulls (3-1, 3-0 New Jersey Athletic Conference) past the Lions (0-4, 0-3).

Lewis had a 10-yard touchdown run with 12:39 left in the third quarter and a 3-yard run with one second left. Salisbury scored 27 unanswered points, including 20 in the second half.

FROSTBURG STATE 24, ROWAN 10: The visiting Bobcats (4-0, 3-0 New Jersery Athletic Conference) went on a 17-0 run in the second half to pull away from the Owls (3-1, 2-1).

Frostburg’s Connor Cox (South River) completed 13 of 25 passes for 238 yards and three touchdowns.

DELAWARE VALLEY 27, STEVENSON 7: The host Aggies (4-0, 3-0 Middle Atlantic Conference) took a 7-0 lead 14 seconds into the game and rolled past the Mustangs (2-2, 2-1).
