Towson upsets Delaware with late TD
Gallahan catches pass with 35 seconds left to lift Tigers to third win
Sam Gallahan caught a 14-yard touchdown pass with 35 seconds left to lift host Towson to a 18-17 victory over Delaware in a Colonial Athletic Association football at Johnny Unitas Stadium on Saturday.
Gallahan made the catch with one hand while crossing the left side of the end zone.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Ryan Stover threw a pair of touchdowns late in the second half to help Towson (3-5, 1-4) rally from a 14-3 deficit and beat Delaware (5-3, 3-2) for the third time in four years. Delawared is ranked No. 23 among FCS teams.
BOWIE STATE 86, LINCOLN (PA.) 14: The host Bulldogs (8-1, 5-1 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association) had their second highest single-game point total in school history beating the Lions (0-9, 0-6). Amir Hall went 14-for-19 for 238 yards and six touchdown passes. Bowie State led 34-0 to start the second quarter.
JOHNS HOPKINS 31, MUHLENBERG 24: Blue Jays’ Tyler Messinger had the game-winning 1-yard touchdown run and Hopkins’ defense made a game-ending stand to beat the host Mules (5-4, 4-2 Centennial Conference).
Messinger capped a seven-play, 45-yard drive with 4:39 left in the game. The Blue Jays (7-1, 6-1) twice answered game-tying touchdowns in the second half.
SALISBURY 33, ROWAN 0: Brandon Lewis (John Carroll) threw a touchdown pass and rushed for another touchdown as the host Sea Gulls (7-1, 7-0 New Jersey Athletic Conference) rolled over the Owls (3-5, 2-4) in their second straight shutout this season.
Salisbury beat Southern Virginia, 42-0, on Oct. 21.
URSINUS 28, MCDANIEL 21: The host Bears (6-2, 5-2 Centennial Conference) went on a 28-0 run to take control and beat the Green Terror (3-5, 2-5). McDaniel suffered its fourth straight loss.
WIDENER 20, STEVENSON 14: The visiting Pride (6-2, 6-1 Middle Atlantic Conference) held off a late rally by the Mustangs (4-4, 4-3) to win.
Stevenson trailed 20-7 in the fourth quarter before Dan Williams completed a 20-yard touchdown pass to Devin Salisbury (Old Mill) with 2:43 left.
