Navy men dropped in FGCU Shootout

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Brandon Goodwin tossed in 19 points, on 7-of-11 shooting, and Christian Terrell finished with a double-double as Florida Gulf Coast dominated the second half on its way to a 70-54 win over Navy at the FGCU Shootout on Saturday night.

Terrell totaled 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Zach Johnson hit three 3-pointers and scored 17 for the Eagles (4-2), who used a 23-8 run over an 8:11 span of the second half to turn a four-point advantage into a 63-42 lead.

Shawn Anderson and Bryce Dulin each had 13 points for the Midshipmen (4-3), while Tom Lacey scored 10.

TENNESSEE TECH 90, UMES 60: Kajon Mack drained six of seven 3-point tries, joined five players in double figures with 24 points and the Golden Eagles (6-1) beat the Hawks (2-4) to win the Emerald Classic championsh­ip in Niceville, Fla.

Ahmad Frost and Tyler Jones paced UMES with 18 points apiece and Miryne Thomas added 10. the consolatio­n game at 1 p.m.

ST. BONAVENTUR­E 63, UMBC 54: Laura Castaldo scored 17 points, but the Retrievers (1-5) fell to the Bonnies (4-2) in the first round of the Navy Classic.

St. Bonaventur­e used 17 offensive rebounds to score 14 second chances points in the win.

WILLIAM & MARY 70, LOYOLA MARYLAND 49: The host Tribe (4-1) made four first-quarter 3-pointers and took a 22-8 lead over the Greyhounds (2-4).

CaLee Gelbaugh matched her career-high with 13 points for Loyola, and Courtney Vannoy also tied her career-best with 10 points.

MANHATTAN 74, COPPIN STATE 56: Genesis Lucas led all scorers with 18 points, but the Eagles (1-5) lost to the Jaspers (2-3) in the consolatio­n game of the Cal Classic in the Haas Pavilion at Berkeley, Calif.
