Spring Swing

-

When Alicia Cromer, 32, puts together outfits for herself, she follows the process she uses when putting together lesson plans for the 2-year-old toddlers she instructs as their lead teacher at The Goddard School — connecting the dots, so to speak.

“It’s coming up with creative ways and ideas to educate them. It’s the same [working] with fashion to make a statement,” the Owings Mills resident said. Cromer got creative with her ensemble for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Spring Swing. She liked the neckline of one dress. So she wore it as a top, under a flirty skirt and added glitzy pumps.

“I love the glitz and glam. [Point] anything shiny in my direction, I’m all about it. I love to make a statement,” she said.

Cromer says she follows the statement strategy when dressing for work. She starts with simple black pants and tops for their practicality. Then, she adds the fun.

“The children always love my necklaces. They’re always wondering what necklace I’m going to have on for the day. ‘Miss Alicia, I like your necklace.’ It’s always nice to have your 2-year-olds tell you they like your style . ... Age 2 is the age of truth,” she said.
