A Labor of Love for Ellicott City

-

S38, showed that simplicity was the key to being summer chic. The owner of Luxe Beauty Hair Studio in Columbia was at Labor Of Love to support Ellicott City flood victims and performer James Toler, a singer and friend of the family.

“It was beautiful,” she says of the performances. “It was very inspiring.”

The fundraiser was organized after Ellicott City experienced devastating damage that left its historic district closed for weeks following floods during Memorial Day weekend. “I was born and raised here. Ellicott City is near and dear to my heart. And I wanted to support my friend,” Smith says. But back to the ensemble. It was warm-weather appropriate. “I normally don’t wear my hair like this, but I wanted it to go with the dress — something simple,” she says, adding her hair is naturally curly and that she typically wears her hair off her face. “I was thinking summer chic.”

Smith says that she’s typically more conservative when it comes to her sense of style.

“But I’m still on trend,” she says. “For me, a trend is classic beauty. It’s always trending. I like to put my personal spin on it.”
