BASEBALL: The Brewers signed INF Brett Lawrie to a contract. Terms of the deal weren’t yet available. Lawrie, 29, hasn’t played since the 2016 season because of injuries. He’s a .261 career hitter with 71 HRs and 253 RBIs in six seasons with the Blue Jays, A’s and White Sox . ... The Royals signed RHP Homer Bailey to a minorleagu­e contract with an invitation to spring training. Bailey, 32, who has thrown two no-hitters, was 67-77 with a 4.56 ERA in 212 career starts over 12 seasons with the Reds.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: The NCAA granted former Eastern Washington QB Gage Gubrud an additional year of eligibilit­y upon appeal. He will play his final season for Washington State as a graduate transfer. Gubrud, who initially was denied a medical redshirt after missing the final 10 games of last season with a toe injury, was a twotime finalist for offensive player of the year in FCS . ... Miami WR Lawrence Cager will transfer to Georgia as a graduate student and will be eligible to play next season. Cager led the Hurricanes last season with six TD catches and 17.8 yards per reception.

GOLF: Paul Casey shot a 5-under 67 at Spyglass Hill to take a three-stroke lead at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in Pebble Beach, Calif. Casey reached 15-under 200 after three rounds. Fourtime champ Phil Mickelson (70, Pebble Beach) was second . ... Aussie Wade Ormsby and Kim Kaufman each held two-stroke leads after three rounds in the men’s and women’s events at the Vic Open in Barwon Heads, Australia. The event is co-sponsored by the European and LPGA tours . ... Bernhard Langer held a one-stroke lead heading into the final round at the PGA Tour Champions’ Oasis Championsh­ip in Boca Raton, Fla.

SKIING: In the final race of his career, two-time Olympic champ and five-time world champ Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway won silver in the downhill at the world championsh­ips in Are, Sweden. Svindal, who’s retiring at 36 because of persistent knee injuries, was 0.02 seconds behind close friend and teammate Kjetil Jansrud.

SOCCER: Sadio Mane, Georginio Wijnaldum and Mohamed Salah each scored to lift Liverpool over visiting Bournemout­h 3-0 and back into first in the English Premier League. Liverpool holds a three-point lead over Manchester City, which hosts Chelsea on Sunday . ... Edinson Cavani suffered a thigh injury during Paris SaintGerma­in’s 1-0 win over visiting Bordeaux, putting his availabili­ty in doubt for the Ligue 1 leader’s Champions League round of 16 match against Manchester United on Tuesday. PSG already will be without Neymar (foot) . ... Former U.S. defender and MLS coach Fernando Clavijo died Friday after a battle with multiple myeloma. He was 63.

TENNIS: No. 7 seed Pierre-Hugues Herbert beat former champ Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic 6-2, 7-5 to set up an all-French Open Sud de France final against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Herbert, 27, has won all four Grand Slam titles in doubles but hasn’t won an ATP singles title. Tsonga beat Radu Albot of Moldova 6-1, 6-3 in the other semifinal . ... No. 3 seed Daniil Medvedev of Russia beat No. 7 seed Gael Monfils of France 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the final of the Sofia Open. Medvedev will face Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics, who beat Matteo Berrettini of Italy 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 in the other semifinal.
