Terps bounce back for 14-9 win over Albany

The No. 7 Maryland men’s lacrosse team scored six goals in the fourth quarter to beat host Albany, 14-9, on Saturday.

The Terps improved to 6-1 and the Great Danes fell to 1-3.

Jared Bernhardt had eight points on three goals and five assists and Louis Dubick had three goals to lead Maryland, which bounced back from last Sunday’s 14-13 overtime loss to then-No. 17 Notre Dame. The Terps were ranked second at the time.

NO. 14 SYRACUSE 14, NO. 18 JOHNS HOPKINS 10: The host Orange (3-2) used a 6-1 run in the fourth quarter to win a come-from-behind victory over the Blue Jays (2-3). Jacob Buttermore had a hat trick to lead Syracuse. Hopkins was led by Alex Concannon, Kyle Marr and Joey Epstein, who each had two goals. The game featured five ties.

NO. 11 HIGH POINT 22, UMBC 13: Chris Young had a game-high seven goals and the host Panthers (6-1) scored 11 goals in the second quarter to rout the Retrievers (1-4). Josh Jordan, Ryan Frawley and Steven Zichelli (Severna Park) each scored twice for UMBC, which suffered its second straight loss.

NO. 19 NAVY 12, LAFAYETTE 7: Jack Sweeney (McDonogh) and Christian Daniel each had a hat trick to lead the visiting Mids (4-2, 2-1 Patriot League) over the Leopards (4-3, 0-2). Navy went on a 5-0 run that spanned three quarters.

NO. 9 OHIO STATE 14, HOFSTRA 8: Tre Leclaire scored four goals while freshman Jack Myers added six points (three goals, three assists) to lead the visiting Buckeyes (6-0) over the Pride (2-4). Ohio State scored 10 times over a 23-minute span to build a 14-4 fourth-quarter lead. Jackson Reid, coming off a career-high five goals the previous game, scored twice and added an assist.

NO. 15 RICHMOND 17, VIRGINIA MILITARY INSTITUTE 4: The host Spiders (4-3, 1-0 Southern Conference) opened with a 12-0 run and routed the Keydets (3-2, 0-1). Teddy Hatfield had a game-high five goals and teammates Ryan Lanchbury and Kevin Todd each had a hat trick.

NO. 16 GEORGETOWN 19, FAIRFIELD 6: Daniel Bucaro had five goals and Jake Carraway (St. Mary’s) had four goals to lead the visiting Hoyas (6-1) to their fourth straight victory. The Stags fell to 2-3. Georgetown opened with a 6-0 run and was never threatened.

LEHIGH 11, NO. 17 ARMY WEST POINT 8: Lucas Spence had three goals and an assist as the host Mountain Hawks (3-3, 2-0 Patriot League) toppled the Black Knights (4-2, 1-1). Lehigh has beaten two ranked opponents this season. Lehigh beat No. 16 Colgate, 10-8, last Saturday. AJ Barretto (St. Paul’s) made 15 saves for Army.

NO. 20 RUTGERS 9, PRINCETON 8: Max Edelman had 18 saves as the host Scarlet Knights (4-2) beat the Tigers (2-3) and claimed the Meistrell Cup.
