Baltimore Humane Society’s Black Tie & Tails

-

Halie Clemens, 27, stepped outside her usual box — or perhaps we should say, off her skateboard — for the look she went for at the Baltimore Humane Society’s Black Tie & Tails.

“My style is more beach girl/skater — Vans, skate shoes, relaxed fit clothes and lots of flannels. I probably own 10-15 different flannels; all different colors, shirts and jackets,” said Clemens, who grew up in Southern California, but now lives in Pikesville.

However, the Petco dog groomer decided to ramp it up for the party, keeping a certain “accessory” in mind — Lady, her 1½-year-old Pomeranian.

“Lady has been in my life just for a few months. She’s a sweet little thing. Just the happiest little fluff of joy,” said Clemens.

As Clemens was searching online for something “elegant” to wear for the party, she happened across the gown which — she realized — would coordinate with Lady’s colors.

“We actually did a very good job matching the gown’s tan and black with Lady’s tan body and black accents,” she said.

Clemens reported that both of them enjoyed the gala.

“She was very well-behaved. She liked meeting other dogs and getting a couple of table scraps. She definitely had a very good time,” she said.

And next year, it’ll be Lady’s turn to ramp up her style.

“I’m going to give her a real nice haircut, which I didn’t get to do this year,” Clemens said, with a laugh.
