Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maryland’s HamburGala

-

Lorraine Chenault, 36, took a lot of her inspiration for the outfit she wore to HamburGala from the core population Ronald McDonald House Charities serves — children.

“I was thinking fun. It’s one of the few events where you can wear a really large pop of color without feeling out of place. Because it is all for the kids, and kids like fun!” said the Zirkin and Schmerling Law practice manager/senior paralegal.

That feeling of fun is something Chenault covets for her closet, which she views as her grown-up version of a toy chest.

“Shopping for clothes is like [that] for new toys. I love high-end consignment shops. It’s my favorite thing. It’s like a treasure hunt,” she noted.

This particular party finally afforded Chenault the opportunity to pull out one treasure she hadn’t yet worn, even though she’d bought it four years earlier.

In fact, when she spotted the hot pink dress in designer (and Annapolis native) Christian Siriano’s New York City store, it brought out the kid in her.

“It was such a fantastic piece that I thought I needed it in my closet. The pleating is spectacular and the pink taffeta — it makes you want to twirl. How much more fun can you have?” she said.

“If you’re not having fun with what you’re wearing, what’s the point?” she said, with a laugh.

HER ENSEMBLE: Christian Siriano pink taffeta dress she bought at his New York City store. Her grandmother’s gold, pearl and sapphire necklace and matching bracelet that were custommade for her in the 1960s from Dahne & Weinstein. Topaz crystal and taupe strappy stilettos from the Gucci store that she wore for her wedding. Vintage orange and clear rhinestone-covered minaudiere borrowed from her mom.
