Fluid Movement’s 20th Birthday Gala-Palooza
Most brides wear their wedding dress only once. Thanks to Fluid Movement’s 20th Birthday Gala-Palooza, Leah Christopher Long, 34, got to wear hers again, less than a year after donning it for her May 4, 2019, wedding day.
It didn’t hurt that the Station North resident didn’t go the traditional route with the aforementioned garment to begin with.
“It popped up on a Facebook ad. I took a total gamble on it. But the [Chotronette] dresses are so whimsical and magical. They’re so unique. I wanted something different,” she explained.
One way Long — who works as a paralegal for Transamerica — said she has indulged her creative side is by participating in two Fluid Movement shows. Another is with her unique wardrobe.
“I’ve always marched to a different drummer when it comes to my style. I’m moody. It depends on [whether] I’m feeling sassy and glittery, flirty or Goth or retro,” said Long. And the dress is just the start. “I’m like a Christmas tree, I try to see how many ornaments and baubles I [can] put on myself,” she said. All the accessories she wore to the party were those she wore at her wedding, including the blue floral hair ornament with a “Star Wars” storm trooper in the middle of it. “My husband and I are huge “Star Wars” fans. We picked our wedding date with that in mind: May the Fourth be with you,” she said, with a laugh. HER ENSEMBLE: Turquoise and white tulle dress with appliques custom-made from chotronette.com.
