Health Care for the Homeless Chocolate Affair

-

Amelia Jackson, 34, developed her lean and mean style as she was growing up.

“I was definitely the classic tomboy. I would rather be outside playing than in a dress. My love of sports also contributed to me wearing what was quick and easy versus what would take more time,” said the Rosedale resident.

Her eventual 6-foot-1-inch height contributed to that aesthetic.

“When I was younger, it was more difficult to find clothing that would fit. Sometimes I would buy men’s jeans because I could get the length that I need and they would fit better,” Jackson explained.

Now, a family nurse practitioner for Health Care for the Homeless, Jackson said she keeps her work outfits pretty basic.

“As I’ve gotten older, I’ve kept a simple style but now I like to girly-fie it a bit, embracing the woman in me,” she said.

With the “Chocolate Affair” happening on her birthday, Jackson decided to go all out.

“I was more looking for something that was out of my day-to-day; something out of my normal box,” Jackson said. She clearly succeeded. “Everybody was wowed. I got compliments from all of my coworkers. They told me, if you came to work like that, none of your patients would pay attention to what you’re saying,” she said, with a laugh.

HER ENSEMBLE: Rachel by Rachel Roy copper to black ombre sequined sheath, gold chain earrings and gold cuff from Macy’s. Sam Edelman brushed gold strappy sandals with block heels from zappos.com. Brown leather clutch from Target.
