Blue Jeans & Bow Ties Ball

-

You know the saying, “every picture tells a story”? For Robin Ingram, 39, it’s “every outfit tells a story.”

The Federal Hill resident said she gravitates towards a polished “classic chic” style that suits her job as assistant vice president at The Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine. But she pointed out that she also likes many of the pieces she wears to have a little meaning for her.

Case in point? While Ingram clearly had fun shopping her closet for a look that jibed with the theme of the “Blue Jeans {& Bow Ties} Ball, the back story to some of her pieces made it even more so.

“My shoes were my rehearsal dinner shoes five years ago. I was looking for a fun shoe that said I’m the bride, that could also be worn again,” she said. “The bag was vintage; a hand-me-down from my mom,” she noted.

Ingram said most of the jewelry she wears — necklaces in particular — have special meaning.

“One necklace is a three-stone diamond that my dad gave me in college. Another necklace that my husband gave me on our wedding day. I also have several pieces of my grandmother’s jewelry that are fashion jewelry and I like to pull those out too,” she said. However, because of the ruffles on the vest she wore that night, added sparkle around her neck made the look a tad too busy. So, she went with the bling ring — which came with its own story. “It represents a different phase of my life. I’m originally from North Carolina, but I got it when I was single and new to the DMV area, 8 or 9 years ago,” Ingram said. HER ENSEMBLE: Forever 21 silver sequined tank top.
