WEBSTER, Mary Virginia Finley

After living a long and full life, Virginia passed away peacefully at her home in Greenport, New York on Eastern Long Island on March 27, 2021 at the age of 98. Virginia was born on August 9, 1922 in Ruxton, Maryland to William R. Finley and Louise M. Finley. She was a war bride and in 1943 married the love of her life, Laurence A. Webster, Jr. who predecease­d her in 1996. As a devoted army wife, she lived all over the U.S. and in Germany for many years. Virginia loved historic preservati­on causes and volunteere­d at the Hampton National Historic Site for many years. Virginia was the beloved mother of Laurence A. Webster III (who predecease­d her), Richard F. Webster, Sr., Mary V. Webster, Louise M. Wager (Greg) and Edith WebsterFre­ed (Todd), and is survived by her eleven grandchild­ren, Suzanne Franyo (Drew), Elizabeth Cavett (Chris), Richard F. Webster, Jr. (Laura), Laurence “Ady” Webster, IV (Allaire), Rebecca Webster, Sara Bowers (Jordan), Nicholas Wager, Laura Wager, Catie Wager, Genny Freed and Christian Freed, twelve great-grandchild­ren, and her brother, Earle Finley (Sara) of Raleigh, North Carolina, and three nieces and two nephews. A celebratio­n of life will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Towson, Maryland on Saturday, April 17th at 11 a.m. Due to COVID restrictio­ns, the service will be private, but all are welcome at the graveside ceremony to be held at 12:15 p.m. at Carroll’s Cemetery (Chestnut Ridge) located at 11725 Greensprin­g Avenue. Flowers may be sent to Trinity Episcopal Church, or donations in lieu of flowers may be sent Hampton National Historic Site.
