SHEELY, Janius

-

Janius Joy Hinkle was born to Percy W. Hinkle and Beulah S. Hurst in Orlando, West Virginia on August 9, 1939. Her parents moved to Baltimore prior to the Second World War. Joy graduated from Forest Park High School in 1958.

She met her future husband there and they married in 1965.

Susan Renee Sheely arrived in October 1965. Janius was a bright and capable worker whose skills, enthusiasm and diligence contributed to her excellence for the many jobs she held. Eventually, she was hired as a clerk typist for the Social Security Administration at the West Paca Pratt Building in Baltimore.

She spent several years there but her nose to the grindstone approach to working earned her several promotions.

Eventually she was honored by being selected to serve on the Ombudsman staff at the Social Security Complex in Woodlawn. From there she served in various Personnel Departments. She retired after more than 40 years of excellent service.

She had accumulated numerous outstanding achievement awards and several merit promotions.

She retired with her husband to Morgantown WV to pursue a happy, well-earned retirement. Unfortunately, she suffered a terrible head accident which led to a succession of operations and medical assistance, and she fought these demons with her husband, her doctors, and others who provided her care for 11 years.

Often, she returned home for brief respites between treatments. However, she was sent home for her final days, succumbing on March 24, 2022 at the age of 82 years. The world is a better place because she lived in it. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Fred B. Sheely, Jr. her daughter, Susan Spiroff, her granddaughter, Felicia Price, and her great granddaughter Sofija Everly.

The Fred L Jenkins Funeral Home, Morgantown was honored to offer assistance and guidance to the family of Janius Sheely.
