Unique features: This architecturally unique Craftsman-style house was built by a master cabinet maker as his dream home and is an homage to the beauty of wood, the owner’s chosen material. Not only is the house surrounded by living trees, the exterior is made from cedar and wood siding and the interior features quarter-sawn white oak on doors, stairways, built-in benches and bookcases. In the kitchen, the cabinets and central island are made from oak, and the cabinets feature butcher-block countertops. Even some ceilings are wood.

The house is also cannily constructed to maximize views of the outdoors, from the sunroom with its over-sized bay windows and skylight to the rooftop deck to several covered outdoor porches of varying sizes, including one that runs the length of the home.

Real estate agent Michele Naish said that the home’s owner and builder took as his design inspiration sources as varied as the architect Frank Lloyd Wright (the owner copied one of Wright’s fireplaces) and the 1947 romantic comedy “The Bishop’s Wife,” starring Cary Grant and Loretta Young. The owner reproduced decorative woodwork from the film onto the transom leading from the kitchen to the dining room. The detail on the great room ceiling? That was inspired by a living room featured in the Showtime cable television series, “House of Lies.”
