Jordan Theodore scored all 19 of his points in the second half and added 11 assists to help Seton Hall upset No. 8 Connecticut 75-63 Tuesday night in Newark, N.J.

Fuquan Edwin had 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Herb Pope added 15 and eight for the Pirates (13-2, 2-1 Big East), who beat the Huskies for the first time since 2001.

Connecticut (12-2, 2-1), which saw its seven-game winning streak end, quickly fell apart against the Pirates’ zone defense.

Coach Jim Calhoun served the final game of a three-game suspension. Spartans win in Madison: A possible tying 3-pointer in overtime by Wisconsin’s Ryan Evans was waved off after video review by officials, giving No. 10 Michigan State its 14th straight victory with a 63-60 road win over the 18th-ranked Badgers (12-4, 1-2).

Evans rebounded a late miss by Jordan Taylor (28 points), dribbled back to the 3-point line and banked in the shot as time expired. The officials eventually ruled Evans didn’t get the shot off in time.

Draymond Green had 18 points and 14 rebounds for the Spartans (14-2, 3-0), who ended an eight-game losing streak on Wisconsin’s home court and handed the Badgers their second straight loss in Madison. Legend Bartow dies: Gene Bartow, who succeeded John Wooden at UCLA and later began UAB’S athletic program, has died after a two-year battle with stomach cancer, UAB officials said. He was 81.

Bartow was one of the winningest NCAA Division I coaches with 647 wins over 34 seasons. He was inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009, and UAB renamed its basketball arena in his honor in 1997.

He succeeded Wooden in 1976 and led the Bruins to the Final Four.

Bartow coached Memphis State from 1970-74 and guided the school to the 1973 national championship game.
