Edgar Nash III, real estate broker

Edgar Nash III, a retired real estate broker who had been associated with the old Morgan Millwork Co., died of heart disease Sept. 2 at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Easton.

The St. Michaels resident was 86.

Born in Richmond, Va., he was the son of Edgar Nash Jr. and Martha Chambers Nash. He attended Rensselaer Polytechni­c Institute.

While serving in the Army and stationed at Fort Meade, he visited Cape May, N.J. There he met his future wife, Leigh Speer, a fellow guest at the Chalfonte Hotel.

In 1952, he became a salesman for the old Morgan Millwork Co., a North Avenue business whose factory is now a Maryland Institute College of Art studio. He lived in Rodgers Forge and Ruxton for many years.

Mr. Nash moved to St. Michaels in 1984 and sold real estate. He became an owner of Sharp, Critchlow, Nash and Crouch, retiring nearly six years ago.

Mr. Nash enjoyed outdoor sports. Hehunted with his Brittany spaniels and fished. He also played golf and tennis.

“In his later years, he was a member of the Dove Club on the Eastern Shore and looked forward to the opening day of dove season each September 1st. He had his black Lab, Julie, by his side as his dove retriever,” said his son, Edgar Dawson Nash of Washington, D.C

memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ Church, 301 S. Talbot St. in St. Michaels.

In addition to his wife of nearly 62 years and his son, survivors include another son, David Hatton Nash of Chicago; a daughter, Mary Leigh Nash Massey of Camden, Maine; and four grandchild­ren.
