Padres: 3B Adam Rosales hit a two-run homer, OF Alex Dickerson and 1B Brett Wallace both added solo shots and the Padres tied the National League record for consecutiv­e games with at least one home run as they beat the Blue Jays 8-4 on Wednesday. The Padres have homered in 25 straight games, two off the major-league record set in 2002 by the Rangers.

Nationals: RHP Stephen Strasburg shut down the Indians on three hits over seven innings and struck out seven to bounce back from his only loss and lead the Nationals to a 4-1 win. Strasburg began the season with 13 straight wins before he was beaten by the Dodgers on July 21. Rookie OF Trea Turner drove in three of the Nationals’ runs and 2B Daniel Murphy hit his 20th homer.

Tigers: 1B Miguel Cabrera hit a tiebreakin­g home run in the ninth inning that bounced off the top of the wall and into the Red Sox bullpen, lifting the Tigers to a 4-3 victory and three-game series sweep. The Red Sox were the only team that had not already been swept this season. C James McCann also hit a solo homer and DHVictor Martinez had four singles, a walk and drove in two runs for the Tigers.

Marlins: OF Giancarlo Stanton hit a two-run homer in the first inning to lead a 16-hit attack as the Marlins took the rubber game of their series against the Phillies, 11-1. Stanton hit his 22nd homer in support of LHP Adam Conley, who pitched 62⁄ scoreless innings and also collected his first two RBIs of the season on a sacrifice fly and single.

Reds: OF Jay Bruce homered in his career-high fifth straight game, connecting off Madison Bumgarner to lead the Reds to a 2-1 win over the Giants, who have lost nine of 11 since the All-Star break. Bruce’s homer was his 25th of the season. RHP Dan Straily gave up three hits and struck out five over 72⁄ innings, his longest outing of the season.

Rays: LHP Matt Moore pitched four-hit ball into the seventh inning, 3B Evan Longoria hit a two-run homer and the Rays won at Dodger Stadium for the first time, 3-1 over the Dodgers. The Rays were swept in a three-game series in 2013, the only other time they’ve visited the Dodgers.
