Christopher W. Dinisio, a retired Washington police officer, died Saturday after suffering a heart attack while riding his bicycle.

The Marriottsville resident was 67.

The son of William Dinisio, a produce store owner, and Rose Vasilas, a homemaker, Christopher William Dinisio was born in Baltimore and raised in Waverly and later Parkville by his mother and Bernard Brown, his stepfather, who was a firefighter.

After graduating from Calvert Hall College High School in 1966, he enlisted in the Army and served as a Green Beret with the 7th Special Forces Group. He was discharged in 1970.

Mr. Dinisio served as a Washington police officer for 22 years before retiring in 1992 with the rank of lieutenant. He was a deputy sheriff for the Anne Arundel County sheriff’s office from 1995 until 2006, when he retired a second time.

The former Riverdale and Ellicott City resident had lived in Marriottsville in recent years.

In addition to riding his bike, he enjoyed exercising by the ocean in Ocean City, and also had a second home in Dunedin, Fla., where he lived for six months of the year.

Mr. Dinisio was an avid reader of science fiction and had been a Ravens season ticket holder since the team arrived in Baltimore in 1996.

“Those were the days when the Ravens were playing at Memorial Stadium,” said a daughter, Kristen Jones of Frederick.

Mr. Dinisio was married for 23 years to Deborah Davis, who died in 1995.

He was a communicant of the Roman Catholic Church of the Resurrection, 3175 Paulskirk Drive, Ellicott City, where a memorial Mass will be offered at 9 a.m. today.

In addition to his daughter, Mr. Dinisio is survived by his wife of 16 years, the former Sandra Mason; a son, Dominic Dinisio of Ellicott City; two other daughters, Nicole Pope of Halethorpe and Regina Spallina of Massapequa, N.Y.; two stepsons, Ricky Mason of Baltimore and Russell Mason of Rockville; a sister, Stella Dinisio of Parkville; and 13 grandchildren.
