Blue Jays: Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion and Troy Tulowitz- ki hit solo home runs in the first inning of a 6-5 victory over the Orioles. The Jays cut the Orioles’ AL East lead to a half-game. The Orioles have lost four in a row.

Indians: Abraham Almonte scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in a four-run seventh as the Indians erased a two-run deficit for a 5-3 victory over the A’s. Carlos Santana homered.

Rockies: Tyler Chatwood (10-6) improved to 6-0 with a 1.30 ERA on the road, Carlos Gonzalez homered and drove in four runs and the Rockies beat the Mets 6-1 for their fourth straight victory. Athletics: LHP Rich Hill was scratched from Sunday’s start after 60 throws of long toss made his left middle finger feel “hot,” he said. Sonny Gray will start against the Indians on his regular turn. Hill, now a potential DL candidate with the blister problem, has been the subject of intense trade speculation.

Yankees: Alex Rodriguez expects to play some 1B in the final two months. That could give manager Joe Girardi additional moves off the bench. “I want to give Joe as much flexibility as possible,” Rodriguez said. He is hitting .206 with nine home runs and 29 RBIs in 58 games as a DH and pinch hitter. He has been out of the lineup six straight games.
