Rangers: 2B Rougned Odor homered twice one day after hitting a game-ending shot and OF Carlos Gomez connected for a grand slam off RHP Felix Hernandez, sending the Rangers to a 14-1 win over the Mariners Wednesday to complete a threegame sweep. Odor tied a career high with five RBIs and 3B Adrian Beltre and OF Ryan Rua also homered for the American League West leaders, who moved a season-high 26 games over .500. They matched the 1999 and 2012 Rangers teams as the fastest to reach 80 wins.

Astros: C Evan Gattis hit an RBI single to cap a three-run rally in the eighth inning that was keyed by a wild pitch on a strikeout, leading the Astros to a 4-3 victory over the A’s. 2B Jose Altuve had an RBI triple during the rally for the Astros, who began the day two games behind the Orioles for the second AL wild-card slot.

Rockies: LHP Tyler Anderson pitched into the seventh inning, 3B Nolan Arenado kept up his torrid August with another RBI and the Rockies beat the Dodgers 7-0 in the opener of a doublehead­er made necessary by a rainout Tuesday. Arenado had a run-scoring double in the first, giving him 34 RBIs this month, the most for August in Rockies history. Andres Galarraga set the previous team mark of 33 in 1996.

Indians: OF Coco Crisp, who began his major-league career in Cleveland in 2002, was acquired along with cash in a trade that sent minor-league pitcher Colt Hynes to the A’s.

Royals: RHP Chien- Ming Wang was placed on the 15-day disabled list with biceps tendinitis and INF Christian Colon was optioned to Triple-A Omaha. Brought up from Omaha were LHP Scott Alexander and RHP Brooks Pounders.

Padres: C Christian Bethancour­t was put on the 15-day DL with a left intercosta­l strain and C Hector Sanchez was called up from Triple-A El Paso. Bethancour­t, who is hitting .228 in 73 games, was hurt Tuesday on a swing in his last at-bat.
