Emma Gromacki, John Carroll, field hockey

The senior goalie came up big in leading the Patriots to two wins against ranked opponents to open the season last week. In a 2-1 win last Wednesday at then-No. 3 Garrison Forest, Gromacki had 15 saves. In Friday’s 3-1 win over then-No. 7 Bel Air, she had 11 saves and helped keep the defense organized. Gromacki, who was called up from junior varsity during the playoffs as a freshman, is set to play at Lehigh. She is a member of the indoor and outdoor track and field teams and the marching band, and is president of the student government association.
