The No. 2 Arun­del girls vol­ley­ball team out­lasted No. 6 Atholton, 3-2, on Tues­day.

The host Wild­cats (3-0) won, 25-13, 17-25, 25-19, 23-25, 17-15.

Coach Ash­ley Yus­cav­age cred­ited “big play at the net.” She com­pli­mented the Raiders (1-1) for pass­ing the ball well.

Chyna Gub­bings had 13 kills and 11 digs, and Syd­ney Shep­pard had 24 as­sists, nine digs and seven kills for Arun­del.

NO. 3 HOWARD D. BROAD­NECK, 3-1: Howard se­nior set­ter Ju­lia McKenna, play­ing her first game with­out a knee brace since tear­ing her ACL in last year’s Class 4A North re­gional-fi­nal loss to Du­laney, didn’t show any reser­va­tions in the Lions’ four-set win over the vis­it­ing Bru­ins (0-1).

The Lions (2-0) won, 25-13, 25-16, 23-25, 25-13, and had sev­eral hit­ters reach dou­ble-digit kills. Se­nior out­side hit­ter Sarah Sweet led the way with 15, ju­nior mid­dle blocker Christina Kun­drat and ju­nior out­side hit­ter Anna Jez­er­ski had 11 each, and se­nior mid­dle blocker Sara Bink­ley added 10.

NO. 9SEVERNAPARKD. RIVER HILL, 3-1: Ally Win­ship had 16 kills and An­gela Cot­trell had 14 to lead the host Fal­cons (3-0) past the Hawks (0-2).

Severna Park won, 25-14, 22-25, 25-22, 25-15.

Kyler Green­walt had a goal and two as­sists for Spald­ing, which led 2-0 at the half.

LOY­OLA BLAKEFIELD 6, MCDONOGH 5, 2OT: The host Dons (6-1) scored the win­ner with 39.4 sec­onds left in the se­cond over­time to beat the Eagles (6-1).
