Man, 41, fa­tally struck by car while sav­ing dog

A41-year-old man died after he was struck by a car while stop­ping his dog from run­ning into the road near El­li­cott City on Monday, po­lice said Wed­nes­day. Paul Gu­toski John­son of Pasadena was near the in­ter­sec­tion of Fred­er­ick and River roads about 10 a.m. when he stepped out into the east­bound lane of Fred­er­ick Road and was hit by at 2000 Toy­ota So­lara headed east, po­lice said. He was taken to Mary­land Shock Trauma Cen­ter, where he died just after 1:30 p.m., po­lice said. The dog was not in­jured, and the driver re­mained at the scene. Bal­ti­more County po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
