Man, 41, fatally struck by car while saving dog

A41-year-old man died after he was struck by a car while stopping his dog from running into the road near Ellicott City on Monday, police said Wednesday. Paul Gutoski Johnson of Pasadena was near the intersecti­on of Frederick and River roads about 10 a.m. when he stepped out into the eastbound lane of Frederick Road and was hit by at 2000 Toyota Solara headed east, police said. He was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he died just after 1:30 p.m., police said. The dog was not injured, and the driver remained at the scene. Baltimore County police are investigat­ing.
