Top-ranked Arch­bishop Cur­ley shut out host St. Paul’s, 6-0, Wed­nes­day and is one game away from be­com­ing the top seed in the Mary­land In­ter­scholas­tic Ath­letic As­so­ci­a­tion A Con­fer­ence soc­cer play­offs.

Ben Stitz and Matt Brum­met each scored twice against the Cru­saders (1-14-1, 1-13-1).

A win or a tie against host Gil­man on Fri­day would se­cure the top seed for Cur­ley (17-3-2, 12-2-1). No. 2 Mount Saint Joseph would take the sec­ond seed, fol­lowed by No. 3 Calvert Hall, No. 5 McDonogh, No. 6 Gil­man and Loy­ola Blake­field. Play­offs be­gin Mon­day.

NO. 2 MOUNT SAINT JOSEPH 2, JOHN CAR­ROLL 0: The host Gaels (13-2-2, 11-2-2 MIAA A Con­fer­ence) scored a goal in each half to beat the Pa­tri­ots (6-12-2, 4-10-1).

Ian Reger and Brett St. Martin scored for Mount Saint Joseph.

NO. 5 MCDONOGH 1, LOY­OLA BLAKE­FIELD 0, OT: Casey Set­tle­man scored the game-win­ner dur­ing a scram­ble in­side the box to lift the Ea­gles (13-6-0, 9-6-0 MIAAA Con­fer­ence) over the host Dons (8-6-4, 6-6-3).

NO. 6 GIL­MAN 2, ARCH­BISHOP SPALD­ING 1: Teddy Ndje and Avery Merlo scored to lead the Greyhounds (9-5-4, 7-5-3 MIAA A Con­fer­ence) past the host Cava­liers (4-13-1, 3-11-1).

NO. 9 TOW­SON D. NO. 8 HERE­FORD, 3-0: The Gen­er­als (12-2) handed the host Bulls (14-1) their first loss of the sea­son, 17-25, 23-25, 25-18, 25-18, 15-8, in the Bal­ti­more County cham­pi­onship.

“It shows we go down against a re­ally good team and fight back,” Tow­son coach Emily Berman said.
