Duke Realty starts new warehouse in Baltimore

- — Natalie Sherman

Duke Realty said Tuesday it is building a sixth warehouse in Chesapeake Commerce Center, after fully leasing other buildings in its Southeast Baltimore industrial park to tenants that include Amazon and Berry Plastics. The new 169,000-square-foot warehouse, Chesapeake Commerce 5900, is expected to be complete in June. The firm does not have a tenant in place but is confident that it will find a business to rent the new Holabird Avenue facility, which will have 17 dock doors, 31 trailer staging spaces and parking for 55 cars, said Battista Orcino, the firm’s vice president of leasing and development in Baltimore. Indianabased Duke Realty purchased the former General Motors site in 2006, with plans to redevelop it as a 2.8 million-square-foot industrial campus. One site with room for a 182,000-square-foot facility will remain after the newest building is complete, the firm said.
