Washington Redskins left tackle Trent Williams was suspended four games Tuesday for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy

It’s his second four-game suspension and first since 2011. He tested positive for marijuana multiple times over the summer of 2011 and served it that season.

Williams will miss Washington’s games against the Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals.

He’s eligible to return to the team Dec. 5.

The four-time Pro Bowl left tackle has missed only three games dating to 2012. Charles out longer: The Chiefs placed Jamaal Charles on injured reserve Tuesday, sidelining the running back for at least eight more weeks.

According to a report f rom NFL Network, Charles needs a second surgery on the same right knee in which he tore his ACL last season.

The earliest Charles can return is Week 17 against the Chargers.

Charles suffered a setback last week in the leadup to the team’s matchup with the Colts, a game Charles was declared inactive for. After the game, coach Andy Reid said Charles would see Dr. James Andrews for an opinion on his knee. Harvin unretires: Wide receiver Percy Harvin is coming out of retirement to rejoin the Bills and reinforce the team’s injurydepl­eted group of receivers.

NFL Network reported the Bills will pay Harvin $1 million, including incen- tives, over the final eight games of the season.

Staying healthy has been a career-long problem for Harvin and eventually led to his announcing his retirement in April after an injury-shortened season in Buffalo. He had 19 catches for 218 yards and a touchdown in five games with the Bills. Huff arrested: Eagles wide receiver Josh Huff was charged with possession of a 9 mm handgun without a permit and for a small amount of marijuana after he was pulled over for speeding, according to a court complaint.

Huff was pulled over on the New Jersey side of the Walt Whitman Bridge around 11 a.m. Tuesday.

He faces charges for possessing the gun without a permit in New Jersey and for the magazine found with six hollow-point bullets. He faces a disorderly persons offense for having less than 50 grams of marijuana, police said. Extra points: The Jets claimed RB Knile Davis off waivers from the Packers. Davis, who was acquired by the Packers from the Chiefs on Oct. 18, was waived Monday. ... Lions DE Armonty Bryant was suspended three games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. ... Vikings coach Mike Zimmer underwent a “minor medical procedure,” the team announced. No other details about Zimmer’s condition were disclosed. … Commission­er Roger Goodell spoke with Panthers QB Cam Newton about the reigning league Most Valuable Player’s concerns regarding the lack of late-hit penalties called against the team’s opposition this season.
