Bal­ti­more na­tive Kam Wil­liams en­joyed a suc­cess­ful home­com­ing by scor­ing 23 points as Ohio State (1-0) de­feated host Navy, 78-68, in the sec­ond game of a dou­ble­header in the third an­nual Vet­er­ans Clas­sic on Fri­day night.

Wil­liams, a Mount Saint Joseph grad­u­ate, made five of six 3-point­ers in equal­ing his ca­reer high.

Keita Bates-Diop (14 points), Marc Lov­ing (13) and Trevor Thomp­son (11) led a bal­anced Buck­eyes of­fense that had five play­ers in dou­ble fig­ures.

Sopho­more guard Hasan Ab­dul­lah, who missed most of last sea­son with a hip in­jury, had a ca­reer-high 22 points to lead Navy. Se­nior for­ward James Hem­phill threw down a dunk to cap a ca­reer-high 12-point out­ing off the bench.

Shawn An­der­son (11 points) and Ryan Pear­son (10) also reached dou­ble dig­its for the Mid­ship­men (0-1), who showed new­found depth by ro­tat­ing 10 play­ers.

UMBC 92, HOOD 61: Jairus Lyles scored 18 points and the host Retriev­ers tied a school record with 17 3-point­ers to cruise over the Blaz­ers (0-1) in coach Ryan Odom’s de­but Fri­day night.

Will Dar­ley (Du­laney) scored 14 points, and Ben Grace (Gil­man) and Joe Sher­burne added 12 apiece for UMBC (1-0).

DUQUESNE 65, LOY­OLA MARY­LAND 60: An­dre Walker and Jarred Jones (John Car­roll) each scored 21 points, but the Grey­hounds (0-1) fell to the host Dukes (1-0). Duquesne’s Tarin Smith had a team-high 13 points. NO. 20 WEST VIRGINIA 87, MOUNT ST. MARY’S 59: Nathan Adrian scored 13 points to lead host West Virginia (1-0) to a vic­tory over Mount St. Mary’s (0-1).

Greg Alexan­der led Mount St. Mary’s with 15 points.

GE­ORGE WASH­ING­TON 75, UMES 71: Tyler Ca­vanaugh scored a game-high 24 points to lead the host Colo­nials (1-0) over the Hawks (0-1).

Bakari Copeland scored 21 points, Ryan Andino had 11 and Thomas Rivera added 10 for UMES.

HOFSTRA 74, COP­PIN STATE 72: Eli Pem­ber­ton scored 20 points off the bench, and the host Pride (1-0) outscored the Ea­gles 46-36 in the sec­ond half to win the sea­son opener for both teams.

Joshua Tread­well scored a team-high 25 points for Cop­pin State (0-1).

HOUSTON 93, MOR­GAN STATE 52: Rob Gray Jr. scored 22 points and Devin Davis added 19 to lift the host Cougars (1-0) over the Bears (0-1).

Ti­wian Kend­ley had 18 points and Phillip Carr added 16 for Mor­gan State.
