Steven­son to play at Wes­ley in D-III foot­ball tour­ney

The Steven­son foot­ball team will play its first NCAA Divi­sion III tour­na­ment game Satur­day at noon when it trav­els to Dover, Del., to face Wes­ley (8-2). The Mus­tangs (9-1), in just their sixth sea­son as a var­sity pro­gram, earned the Mid­dle At­lantic Con­fer­ence’s au­to­matic berth af­ter they clinched their first MAC ti­tle with a 28-10 win at Ly­coming on Satur­day. Wes­ley is mak­ing its 12th straight NCAA­tour­na­ment ap­pear­ance af­ter win­ning the New Jersey Ath­letic Con­fer­ence’s au­to­matic berth. Johns Hop­kins (10-0), win­ner of the Cen­ten­nial Con­fer­ence’s au­to­matic bid, will host Ran­dolph-Macon (9-1) in the first round Satur­day at Home­wood Field at noon. MORE COL­LEGE FOOT­BALL: McDaniel sopho­more An­thony Craw­ley (City) was named the Cen­ten­nial Con­fer­ence Spe­cial Teams Player of the Week. … Johns Hop­kins se­nior quar­ter­back Jonathan Ger­mano was picked CC Of­fen­sive Player of the Week. … Frost­burg State sopho­more quar­ter­back Con­nor Cox (South River) was se­lected Of­fen­sive Player of the Week and fresh­man line­backer Monte Jones (St. Mary’s) De­fen­sive Rookie of the Week by the New Jersey Ath­letic Con­fer­ence. MEN’S COL­LEGE BAS­KET­BALL: Sal­is­bury was picked to fin­ish sec­ond, St. Mary’s fourth and Frost­burg State 10th in the Cap­i­tal Ath­letic Con­fer­ence pre­sea­son poll of coaches. Christo­pher New­port was the unan­i­mous pre­sea­son fa­vorite in the 10-team league. WOMEN’S COL­LEGE BAS­KET­BALL: Johns Hop­kins was picked to fin­ish sixth in the Cen­ten­nial Con­fer­ence pre­sea­son poll. Muh­len­berg was se­lected to re­peat as league cham­pion in 2017, but the Blue Jays re­ceived a first-place vote. WOMEN’S COL­LEGE VOL­LEY­BALL: Mary­land served 13 aces as the Terps (11-17, 3-13 Big Ten) earned a sweep, 25-16, 27-25, 25-21, of vis­it­ing Rut­gers (4-25, 0-16). Sopho­more out­side hit­ter Liz Twil­ley tied for the match lead with 12 kills. … Tow­son will be the fifth seed for the Colo­nial Ath­letic As­so­ci­a­tion cham­pi­onship, which will be held Nov. 18-20 on the cam­pus of North Caroli­naWilm­ing­ton.
