Gi­ants rally past Ben­gals, 21-20

Eli Man­ning threw a 3-yard touch­down pass to Ster­ling Shep­ard on fourth-and-goal early in the fourth quar­ter and the host Gi­ants held on to beat the Ben­gals, 21-20, on Mon­day night.

Man­ning was 28-for-44 for 240 yards and threw three touch­downs and two in­ter­cep­tions. Odell Beck­hamJr. caught10 passes for 97 yards and a score for New York (6-3).

Andy Dal­ton was 16for-29 for 204 yards with one touch­down, but threw an in­ter­cep­tion with Cincin­nati (3-5-1) driv­ing in the fourth quar­ter. The Ben­gals were held to 264 to­tal yards. Bears’ Jef­fery gets fourgame ban: Chicago WR Al­shon Jef­fery was sus­pended Mon­day for four games with­out pay for vi­o­lat­ing the NFL’s pol­icy on per­for­mance- en­hanc­ing sub­stances.

Jef­fery posted on Twit­ter that he took a sup­ple­ment for in­flam­ma­tion con­tain­ing a sub­stance banned by the league.

“I take full re­spon­si­bil­ity and I’m deeply up­set with my­self for not do­ing the proper re­search on this sup­ple­ment,” he wrote.

The Bears will also be with­out star RG Kyle Long. The NFL Net­work re­ported Mon­day that he will miss the rest of the sea­son with an an­kle in­jury. Gronkowski hurt­ing: Al­lPro Pa­tri­ots TE Rob Gronkowski suf­fered a punc­tured lung in Sun­day night’s loss to the Sea­hawks and is ex­pected to be side­lined for this week’s game against the 49ers in San Fran­cisco, NFL Net­work re­ported.

Gronkowski was in­jured late in the sec­ond quar­ter when Sea­hawks safety Earl Thomas low­ered a shoul­der into his chest on a pass play. Gronkowski stayed on the ground for a bit and was sur­rounded by of­fi­cials and med­i­cal staff be­fore be­ing led off the field. Quinn hos­pi­tal­ized: The Rams said DE Robert Quinn is in sta­ble con­di­tion after check­ing him­self into a hos­pi­tal with an ill­ness that is un­re­lated to foot­ball. The Rams pro­vided no fur­ther de­tails.

The sixth-year pro from North Carolina and former first-round draft pick has two sacks this sea­son along with two forced fum­bles, giv­ing him an NFL-best 19 since 2013.

Quinn, 26, un­der­went back surgery last De­cem­ber and spent much of the off­sea­son re­cu­per­at­ing.

Quinn was di­ag­nosed with a tu­mor be­low his brain while in high school. The tu­mor has caused headaches when it isn’t prop­erly drained, but Quinn has said the tu­mor is checked reg­u­larly. Me­bane’s sea­son over: Coach Mike McCoy said the Charg­ers have lost NT Bran­don Me­bane for the rest of the sea­son with a torn bi­ceps. Me­bane joins a grow­ing list of Charg­ers out for the year, in­clud­ing WRs Keenan Allen and Ste­vie John­son, RB Danny Wood­head, LB Manti Te’o and CB Ja­son Ver­rett. Ex­tra points: Brian Smith, the brother of Jaguars line­backer Telvin Smith, was shot to death Sun­day night in Val­dosta, Ga. ... Jets coach Todd Bowles said he will not de­cide un­til Mon­day if Ryan Fitz­patrick or Bryce Petty will be the start­ing QB for the Jets’ next game against the Pa­tri­ots on Nov. 27.
