Wizards’ Beal fined $15K for throat grab Friday

Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal has been fined $15,000 by the NBA for grabbing the throat of Evan Fournier during Friday’s game against the Orlando Magic. The punishment was announced by the league’s head of basketball operations, Kiki Vandeweghe. The incident occurred during a fourth-quarter scuffle that resulted in double technical fouls being called on Beal and Fournier, as well as on Washington’s Kelly Oubre Jr. and Orlando’s Bismack Biyombo. While several players from both teams clustered together amid some pushing, Beal reached out with his left arm and grabbed Fournier’s throat hard enough to leave a mark. Beal did not NHL: The Washington Capitals reassigned forward Paul Carey to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. Carey, 28, made his 2016-17 season debut with the Capitals on Nov. 20 against the Columbus Blue Jackets, and appeared in four games with Washington last season.
