AAC championship
TEMPLE (9-3, 7-1 AAC) @ NO. 19 NAVY (9-2, 7-1) When: Today, noon Site: Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium TV: Chs. 2, 7 Radio: 1090 AM, 1430 AM Series: Navy leads 6-5 after winning the last meeting, 31-24, in 2014. What’s at stake: Navy and Temple are seeking their first conference championship in program history. The Owls, previously in the Mid-American and Big East conferences, are playing in the American Athletic Conference championship game for the second straight season. The Midshipmen made the title game in just their second season in the AAC. Key matchup: Navy right tackle Andrew Wood vs. Temple left end Haason Reddick. This will be a tough test for Wood, a sophomore who was the only Navy offensive lineman not given All-AAC recognition. Reddick has terrorized opposing offenses with 211⁄ tackles for loss. Players to watch: Navy quarterback Will Worth and Temple linebacker Avery Williams. Worth will attempt to remain on a record-setting roll after becoming the first Navy player to surpass 100 yards passing and rushing for three straight games. He can set a school record today by rushing for 100 yards or more. Williams, a Baltimore native, is second on the team with 55 tackles. The Archbishop Curley graduate will play a pivotal role in stopping Navy’s triple option. — Bill Wagner, Baltimore Sun Media Group
