Freshman Allison McGrath scored a career high 17 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead visiting UMBC (12-12, 7-4 America East) to a 64-47 women’s basketball victory over Hartford (14-10, 5-6) on Friday. The Retrievers used an 11-1 secondquar­ter run to pull away. WOMEN’S COLLEGE INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD: Johns Hopkins sophomore Felicia Koerner ran the second-fastest time in NCAA Division III history in the 3,000 meters as she placed sixth in the event at the Boston University Valentine Invitation­al. Her time was 9 minutes, 24.34 seconds. The record of 9:13.13 was set in 2005 by Wartburg’s Missy Buttry. WOMEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE: Catherine Cordrey scored four goals to lead No 10 Duke (2-0) to a 20-5 victory over visiting Furman (0-1). Duke scored twice in the first minute of play. ...
