Washington indefinitely suspended senior forward Malik Dime on Friday after he slapped a student during halftime of the Huskies’ loss to Colorado.

Coach Lorenzo Romar said Dime’s action during Thursday night’s 81-66 loss in Boulder, Colo., wasn’t consistent with his typical behavior and the coach said he doesn’t expect this type of behavior again. But Romar said the incident was unacceptable.

In a statement issued through the school, Dime said he made a poor decision after getting caught up in the emotion of the game.

Dime slapped the student after the halftime buzzer. Washington coaches had to restrain Dime, who was sitting out his ninth consecutive game with a broken right finger. Louisville’s Snider back: Louisville coach Rick Pitino says junior point guard Quentin Snider will play today against Miami after a six-game absence because of a hip injury.

The No. 4 Cardinals’ assists leader and secondleading scorer was expected to miss two to three weeks after being injured in a Jan. 14 win over Duke.

Pitino wouldn’t say Friday whether his guard would start against the Hurricanes (16-7, 6-5 ACC) but noted, “We made sure he was in really good shape before he practiced.”

Louisville (19-5, 7-4) also will have senior center Mangok Mathiang and sophomore forward Deng Adel back after each served one-game suspensions for missing curfew. Women’s results: Rebecca Greenwell had 18 points and 10 rebounds and host No. 14 Duke beat No. 20 Syracuse, 72-55, on Friday night.

Oderah Chidom added 16 points, Kendall Cooper had 12, and Lexie Brown, a transfer from Maryland, finished with nine points, 11 rebounds and eight assists for the Blue Devils (21-4, 9-3 Atlantic Coast Conference). Syracuse fell to 17-8 and 8-4.

Brooke Schulte scored 15 points to help No. 18 DePaul rout host Xavier, 70-43.

Jacqui Grant added 12 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks for the Blue Demons (21-5, 13-1 Big East). Marquia Turner led Xavier (11-13, 3-10) with 16 points.

Capitals forward Andre Burakovsky is expected to miss at least a month with an injured right hand.

Coach Barry Trotz said Friday that Burakovsy would not need surgery but would be out until at least the middle of March. The playoffs begin April 12.

Burakovsky was hurt when he was hit by the puck while blocking a shot Thursday night in a 6-3 victory over the Red Wings. He is eighth on the Capitals with 29 points on 11 goals and 18 assists.

Trotz said Burakovsky would be replaced as the third line’s right wing by Zach Sanford, who was called up from the American Hockey League.

Red Wings D Jonathan Ericsson will have surgery next week to repair his fractured wrist and will be out 12 weeks. Ericsson was injured after being hit from behind into the boards by the Capitals’ Nicklas Backstrom on Thursday night. The Wings placed Ericsson on long-term injured reserve and recalled G Jimmy Howard from a rehabilitation assignment.
