shared the ball and got points in transition, in halfcourt sets and also at the foul line. Six players scored and the team had 24 points while the Millers scored only eight.

It paved the way for Perry Hall to celebrate the program’s first county crown — a 70-57 win over the Millers at Towson University’s SECU Arena.

In improving to 21-2 on the season, the Gators had five players reach double figures, with Anthony Higgs leading the balanced attack with 16 points.

“I love it,” said Laquill Hardnett, who added 14 points. “We came in here knowing that Perry Hall has never won a county championship; we had never even been in a county championship game, so us coming in here and doing this is really big, and there’s no words to explain it.”

The complete team play was on display in the second quarter. Leading 14-13 after one, the Gators opened with a 3-pointer from Aaron Butler and never looked back. The team went on a 10-0 run that was highlighted by a dunk from Higgs off a pass from Fredo Carter in transition.

When Higgs took a feed from Hardnett and scored inside with three seconds left in the half, the Gators had a 38-21 advantage.

“I trust these guys, ultimately, and we just got out running and I knew whoever was open we were going to get the ball in their hands,” Higgs said. “There’s no words — you just get that chill down your spine every time the ball goes through the net.”

After falling at Perry Hall, 53-37, on Dec. 16, the Millers (15-6) won 12 of their next 14 games to finish in first in Baltimore
