will be available at the school from 9 a.m. until noon today, the spokeswoman said.

The boy’s body was found less than 24 hours after he apparently fell into the river.

Around 2 p.m. Tuesday, boats, dive teams and helicopters responded to assist at a scene off the Perryville pier for a report of a missing teenage boy. The Community Fire Company of Perryville said the boy reportedly fell from the end of the community pier into the river and didn’t resurface.

Helicopters from the Coast Guard and Maryland State Police searched the water and shoreline, while the hose company’s dive team conducted underwater searches.

Divers in scuba gear and using sonar equipment searched until after 9 p.m. Tuesday. Boats from the hose company, Department of Natural Resources Police, Perry Point VA fire department and Water Witch Fire Company assisted, according to the Perryville fire company.

“Efforts were challenging for divers due to the current of the river and large amount of debris on the riverbed,” the Perryville fire company said in a Facebook post.

Meanwhile, officials continued to investigate the circumstances related to a luxury SUV plunging into the water on the opposite side of the river just a few hours after the search for the boy began.

The car — which was bobbing about 30 feet from a boat ramp at Jean Roberts Memorial Park before sinking Tuesday evening — likely was unoccupied, officials said. It was located Wednesday by the Susquehanna Hose Company and was removed from the water Wednesday afternoon, Hurst said.

A video posted to social media by boaters telephoning emergency services showed a white SUV sinking nose-down into the water just north of the Amtrak railroad bridge. The car’s windows had been rolled down.
