Cardinals: Paul DeJong’s tiebreakin­g two-run double keyed a nine-run eighth in an 11-4 victory that ended the Cubs’ winning streak at six. The Cards sent 14 batters to the plate in the inning, taking advantage of six walks. The Cubs played without 3B Kris Bryant, out with a sprained left little finger. ... OF Randal Grichuk (back) and LHP Zach Duke (Tommy John surgery) were activated from the disabled list, C Carson Kelly was recalled and C Eric Fryer was designated for assignment.

Mariners: The Mariners acquired young LHP Marco Gonzales from the Cardinals for top OF prospect Tyler O’Neill. The Mariners added pitching help on consecutiv­e days, having acquired reliever David Phelps from the Marlins on Thursday. Gonzales, 25, missed all of the 2016 season after elbow surgery and had pitched in one majorleagu­e game this year. O’Neill is considered an elite prospect with 19 home runs in 93 games at Triple A.

Mets: OF Yoenis Cespedes told the San Francisco Chronicle he’d like to end his career with the Athletics, with whom he debuted in 2012. “I still love the A’s,” Cespedes told the Chronicle. “They were the first team to give me an opportunit­y to play in the big leagues. I love Oakland all the time.” Cespedes is under contract through 2020.

Indians: LHP Boone Logan will miss significan­t time after going on the DL with a strained back muscle, manager Terry Francona said. ... RHP Corey Kluber is likely to pitch Sunday against the Blue Jays after his scheduled start Friday was pushed back due to a stiff neck.

Giants: Madison Bumgarner lost his first home start in more than three months, chased by the Padres in the seventh inning of a 5-2 loss Thursday night. Coming back after spraining his pitching shoulder in an April 20 dirt-bike accident, Bumgarner ( 0- 4) struck out five and walked one. “I felt much better than the box score says,” he said. “That’s what’s most frustratin­g.”
