Red Sox: Team owner John Henry is ready to rename Yawkey Way, the street alongside Fenway Park that he called a haunting reminder of the baseball team’s history of racial intolerance. The Red Sox, under Tom Yawkey’s ownership, were the last majorleague franchise to integrate its roster, finally doing so in 1959. Red Sox president Sam Kennedy told The Associated Press the proposed name change is part of the team’s effort to make everyone feel welcome at the Fenway Park. The team must petition the city of Boston for the change.

Diamondbacks: LHP Patrick Corbin came one out short of his first career shutout and first complete game since 2013 in the Diamondbacks’ 4-0 victory over the Astros on Thursday. Corbin, who blanked the Cubs over 6 innings in his previous start, allowed four hits to the Astros and struck out seven. 2B Daniel Descalso hit an inside-the-park home run. ... Reliever Rubby De La Rosa will undergo a second Tommy John surgery. He had his first surgery in 2011 near the end of his rookie season with the Dodgers and missed most of the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

Indians: C Yan Gomes and 2B Jason Kipnis each had three hits, including a home run, and the Indians beat the Twins 9-3 in the first game of a day-night doubleheader. RHP Carlos Carrasco allowed five hits and struck out nine in five innings. The win improved the Indians’ record this season at Target Field to 9-0.

Rockies: All-Star 3B Nolan Arenado, who leads the majors with 103 RBIs, left the Rockies’ game against the Braves with an apparent injury to his left hand after trying to field a sharp grounder in the seventh inning. The ball appeared to hit the same spot where Arenado was hit by a fastball from Marlins RHP Vance Worley four days earlier.

Cardinals: Closer Trevor Rosenthal was placed on the 10-day disabled list with right posterior elbow irritation. In a corresponding move, rookie RHP Luke Weaver was recalled from Triple-A Memphis.
