Wilde Lake High teacher reported missing

A Wilde Lake High School teacher from Olney was reported missing Tuesday, according to Montgomery County police, who say her family hasn’t been able to reach her since Sunday. Family members of Laura Elizabeth Wallen, 31, told police they last heard from her via text message Sept. 3. Wallen was named Wilde Lake High’s Senior Class Teacher of the Year in 2016. On Wednesday, Rick Wilson, principal of Wilde Lake High, addressed a letter to parents and students, which said school staff met and shared informatio­n with students. The administra­tive team, student services staff and the school system’s crisis team are available for emotional support, the letter stated. Wallen is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, 200 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. Police said she may be driving a 2011 black Ford Escape with Maryland tag M522473.
