Being P.C. won’t save us from radical Islam

- Michael Buttner, Bel Air

Watching the New York political leadership respond to the attack by radical Islam,, one would never realize that they have blocked efforts to stop at our borders those who would battle us (“Police: Truck attack suspect 'did this in the name of ISIS'," Nov. 1). When they tell us to be calm and go about our business, they seem to mean for us to ignore this killing field and don't look too hard into what helped this enemy to attack us in our own country. They mean to go about their business of politically correct attitudes and ignore the carnage on the bike path. Eight deaths seem to be acceptable numbers to them. They will not do anything different.

They don't want us to know that the enemy came to our country through a lottery program with little investigation of the killer's background. They don't want us to know that he had people who fired up his hatred and encouraged his desire for revenge on the USA. They call him a lone wolf. Yet none of our radical Islamic enemies are out there unsupported and unencouraged. They go to websites that stoke their anger and false sense of righteousness. These politically correct leaders refuse to believe that there can be hate speech in some Islamic gatherings, and they turn a blind eye to any attempt to monitor what goes on in them.

They appoint radically liberal judges who attack President Donald Trump’s attempts to protect us. They block any attempts in the Senate and the House to pass reasonable revisions in immigration law to apply to our state of war with radical Islam. They deny that anyone from certain areas of the world could be an enemy coming to kill in America. They deny anything or anyone who dares to question their view of the world and of the danger to America by radical Islam.

The blood of these innocent people is upon their hands and the hands of those who support them. Wake up, liberals: We are in a war, and the other side is not worried about being politically correct.
