Redskins safety Cravens applies for reinstatem­ent

Washington Redskins safety Su’a Cravens applied to the NFL for reinstatem­ent off the reserve/left squad list. It’s another step in a long process back to the field for the 22-year-old, whowas placed on the reserve/left squad list in September after he announced that he planned to retire. In December, his agent issued a statement explaining that Cravens was medically cleared to resume all football activities after dealing with “post-concussion syndrome” and undergoing “targeted treatment and rehabilita­tion.” The 2016 second-round pick suffered a concussion in the Redskins’ Week 4 win over the Cleveland Browns during his rookie year and missed the next two games. COLLEGE BASKETBALL: The Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference announced seedings and game times for its men’s and women’s conference tournament­s, which will be hosted by Prince George’s Community College from Thursday to Sunday. The Harford CC men’s and women’s teams both received the No. 1 seed. The women’s games will be played Thursday and Saturday, with the championsh­ip game Sunday at noon. VARSITY TRACK AND FIELD: Dalton Hengst, who attended McDonogh before transferri­ng to Bishop Shanahan High in Downingtow­n, Pa., in January, was named Gatorade Maryland Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year. Hengst won his third straight Maryland Interschol­astic Athletic Associatio­n Class Astate meetthis past season with a time of 15 minutes, 35.6 seconds, leading the Eagles to a sixth-place finish. He placed fourth at the Foot Locker Northeast Regional championsh­ips, then 24th at Foot Locker nationals. NATIONAL WOMEN’S SOCCER LEAGUE: The Washington Spirit hired former Puerto Rico men’s national team manager Jack Stefanowsk­i as goalkeeper coach. He succeeds Nicci Wright. —
