Stop whining, transit riders

- Craig Darby, Joppa

To the riders of public transportation, stop your complaining! (“Baltimore Metro shutdown frustrates riders, politicians,” Feb. 12) What do you expect? You are practically getting a free ride. Fares only account for a fraction of the operating costs. The rest comes from the taxpayer, mostly gasoline taxes. So just be happy with your free ride. It's time we stopped expecting so much from the government and started taking responsibility for ourselves.
