Anderson’s 28 lead Navy past Lafayette

Senior swingman Shawn Anderson scored a seasonhigh 28 points as host Navy held off Lafayette, 71-69, Wednesday night in a matchup of teams battling for a first-round bye and home-court advantage in the quarterfin­als of the Patriot League Tournament.

Senior guard Bryce Dulin had 14 points for the Midshipmen (18-10, 9-6), who have now won seven straight meetings with the Leopards (8-18, 6-9).

Junior point guard Hasan Abdullah came up with a clutch steal in the final seconds to seal the win for the Midshipmen, who remained in a tie for third place in the Patriot League standings.

BUCKNELL 94, LOYOLA MARYLAND 53: Stephen Brown scored 20 points and the host Bison (19-9, 13-2) routed the Greyhounds (818, 6-9) to clinch the Patriot League regular season title.

Bucknell will be the top seed into the league tournament for the seventh time in the last eight seasons.

Women

NAVY 59, LAFAYETTE 43: Sophie Gatzounas scored 16 points to lead the visiting Mids (21-4, 11-3 Patriot) past the Leopards (9-15, 5-9).

BUCKNELL 74, LOYOLA MARYLAND 69: Isabella Therien had a career-best 26 points in her fourth 20-point game, but the host Greyhounds (7-17, 5-8 Patriot) fell to the Bison (16-8, 10-3).

STONY BROOK 53, UMBC 49: The host Seawolves (16-11, 8-6 America East) used a 14-8 run in the fourth quarter to beat the Retrievers (3-23, 2-11). Laura Castaldo and Brittani Burgess each had 12 points for UMBC.
