Woodbine’s Snyder wins third Big Ten wrestling title
Ohio State senior Kyle Snyder, a Good Counsel graduate and Woodbine native, defeated Michigan’s Adam Coon, 4-2, in the heavyweight final of the Big Ten wrestling championships for his third conference title, avenging his only college loss in the past three years. Snyder, a two-time national champion and Olympic champion, secured the win with a takedown in the second round of sudden victory. With four individual champions, Ohio State won the team title with 164.5 points, beating Penn State (148) and Michigan (118). The Buckeyes’ Myles Martin ( McDonogh) fell to Penn State’s BoNickal, 7-5, in the 184-pound title match. Youssif Hemida finished fifth in the heavyweight division for Maryland, which placed 12th overall. COLLEGEBASEBALL: Senior first baseman Kevin Biondic had a career high seven RBIs and junior right-hander Hunter Parsons pitched seven shutout innings as Maryland (7-4) won its fifth straight game, 13-1 over Ball State (4-6) in Conway, S.C. Biondic went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and an RBI triple as he fell one short of the school record for RBIs in a game. ...
